About Cytology Consultants

Founded in 2026, Cytology Consultants aims to meet the individual needs of our clients by leveraging my combined experiences over the past 15 years working in anatomic pathology. As an ASCP-registered cytotechnologist, I have worked in various laboratory environments to include regional and tertiary hospitals, community hospitals, and private laboratories; I have also worked as a traveling tech, and as a federal government contractor. I am highly proficient in all aspects of cytology, and can provide comprehensive expertise on an as-needed basis; together, our collaborations will optimize your cytology department, and bring solutions to any administrative, operational, or technical issues you are facing.

When put to the question of what my biggest career accomplishments are, first and foremost will always be putting forth my best effort for the patient on the other side of the requisition in hand; and I know I speak for all of my fellow cytotechs when I say that we do this for every single slide.  I have a very strong admiration for the work we do, what we deliver, and the positive impact it has on the lives of our patients; for me, it brings a great deal of fulfillment, and an everlasting gratitude for having good eyes.

I was fortunate earlier in my career to be developed by some very talented laboratorians in leadership/directorship, and spent 6 years as a cytology department supervisor.  In this role, I authored an entire procedure manual from scratch, brought multiple new testing platforms online (including molecular), and underwent three CAP inspections without a single deficiency (both CYP and All Common checklists).  Leaving this department better than it was when I arrived is another career accomplishment that I would emphasize, and I try to live by that principle in all things I do.

In this new endeavor, I am excited to be able to utilize my past experiences in order to offer clients solutions to any cytology departmental issues that I am able to assist with.  I encourage you to get in touch with me, and we can have a conversation about optimizing your lab.

I graduated from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia, and have been an ASCP-registered cytotechnologist since 2009. I grew up in western North Carolina, and have also lived in Vermont, Virginia, and Pennsylvania, before life took me to Oregon in 2019.  I enjoy many of the typical Pacific Northwest outdoor activities, such as hiking, backpacking, and fishing.  I have also gotten into photography in the past few years, including deep space astrophotography.  When I'm not out and about, I enjoy relaxing at home, and keeping my property in good order.  I have two Labrador retrievers who keep me company on all the adventures, and allow me to live in their home.
